Maywood, California
Welcome to the Maywood website for the Law Offices of Ben Yeroushalmi. As a team of experienced elder abuse attorneys, we have created this website to inform Maywood residents of the dangers of nursing home abuse and neglect. We are here to spread awareness and provide legal support should you or your loved one discover that a nursing home facility has breached its duties of care towards you.
Maywood is part of Los Angeles County and was originally a 2,300 acre ranch deeded by the Spanish monarchy. Interestingly, Maywood is named after a popular woman who resided there named May Wood. It is the first city in the United States known to have outsourced all of its city services by contracting with outside agencies for the supply of these services. According to the 2010 census, Maywood has a population of 27,395 people. There is currently one skilled nursing facility servicing the city of Maywood. Alternatively, there are home health care agencies in Maywood as well.
Residents who reside in nursing homes are often in need of assistance. Many residents may be bed ridden due to injuries, a serious ailment, or may require recovery post-surgery. In such cases, these residents are highly susceptible to the development of pressure sores, which develop as a result of being in bed for a long time without movement. Pressure sores have four stages, Stage I to Stage IV, with each stage increasing in severity. Stage IV pressure ulcers may cause damage to an individual’s bones, joints, and muscles because the ulcer as become very deep.
However, pressure sores are highly preventable if adequate care is provided. As such, these residents will require nursing home staff members to reposition them throughout the day in order to prevent pressure sore development, or to prevent an existing sore from worsening. In addition, nursing home staff should engage in preventative practices including close monitoring of high-risk residents, providing residents with dressing, or implementing special bedding, such as a low air loss mattress or a pressure relieving mattress.
Unfortunately, pressure sore occurrence is fairly prevalent within this population due to facility understaffing. While federal law, Section 483.30 of Title 42 of the Code of Federal Regulations, requires nursing homes to have sufficient staff to provide for the physical necessities of the facility’s residents, many facilities are still understaffed and this results in the neglect of residents. Here at the Law Offices of Ben Yeroushalmi, we believe nursing home residents deserve the highest quality care. If you or your loved one has suffered from a bedsore while at a nursing home as a result of nursing home neglect, we encourage you to contact us for a free consultation. We will help you determine if you have a case, and will fight to get you and your loved ones the compensation you deserve.

Ben was wonderful. He took our case when no one else was interested or wanted way to much money. We would highly recommend Ben because he really listens and takes your situation into consideration. We settled our case and we were only unhappy with one thing and that was the confidentiality clause but that was not Ben's fault it came with the deal. June
