Paramount is a small city with a rich history. Originally a part of New Spain, it was signed over to the United States at the end of the Mexican-American War, alongside the rest of California. In 1948, Paramount was created when the post offices Hynes and Clearwater were merged. Paramount is named after Paramount Boulevard, a street which runs from the north to the south of this 4.8 square mile city. Despite attempts by other cities to annex Paramount, the people staged a “Save Paramount for Paramount” campaign and became incorporated in 1957. Paramount’s economy was focused on the hay and dairy industries, but high land costs shut it all down in 1977. Paramount is most well known for being the birthplace of the Zamboni ice resurfacing machine, which today is still manufactured in the city. Despite a population of only 54,000 people, Paramount contains three nursing homes.
When choosing a nursing home, there are many factors one must consider.
