Welcome to the Lomita website for nursing home abuse lawyer Ben Yeroushalmi. At the Yeroushalmi Law, our team of elder abuse specialists is dedicated to protecting the rights of nursing home residents. We hope that this website will help to make your community aware of your rights as patients so that you and your loved one may avoid the pain and suffering that is caused by nursing home abuse and neglect. We would also like to encourage you to take action against nursing homes that fail to meet their obligations to you or your loved one as a resident.
Incorporated in 1964, Lomita is a small city home to 20,256 people (as of the 2010 census). Lomita was originally part of the Rancho San Pedro, one of the first California land grants. Spanish for "little knoll", Lomita is also home to the Lomita Railroad Museum which has a collection of railroad trains and a full size replica of a water tower. Lomita currently has two Skilled Nursing Facilities.
At Yeroushalmi Law, we understand that choosing the right nursing home for you or your loved one is very difficult. When choosing a nursing home, it is important to ensure that the nursing home is providing the highest standard of professional care. One of the most common accidents that occur in nursing homes is falls. Falls often result in injuries such as fractures or broken hips, and can result in hospitalization, severe pain, and ultimately death. There is a wide array of risk factors, but proper preventative methods and attentive staff can help prevent falls. Unfortunately, many nursing homes do not adopt the proper preventative methods and may even be responsible for the reason the fall occurred.
One of the most important aspects of preventing falls is to create specific care plans for each resident. Once the care plan is made, staff should be able to carry out each individual's care plan. However, a problem in many nursing homes is understaffing and as a result, many of these care plans are not carried out. Inadequate staffing can not only result in falls but can also lead to pressure ulcers, malnutrition, and an increased amount of fatal errors by staff.
