El Monte, California

Welcome to the El Monte website for Los Angeles elder abuse attorneys at the Yeroushalmi Law. As specialists in nursing home neglect litigation, we have created this website to warn the people of El Monte about the prevalence of elder abuse in nursing homes today.

El Monte is historically is known as "The End of the Santa Fe Trail." As of 2010, El Monte is the 228th largest city in the United States, and is the 51st largest city in California. Strangely enough, El Monte is credited with being the birth place of TV variety shows such as Hometown Jamboree, which was produced at El Monte's American Legion Stadium in the 1950s. Famous singers who performed there include Ritchie Valens, Rosie & the Originals, Brenton Wood, Earth Wind & Fire, and the Grateful Dead. On March 14, 1964, in a closed-circuit telecast, the Beatles and the Beach Boys were seen there. As of the 2010 census, El Monte had a total population of 113,475. El Monte is home to 10 Skilled Nursing Facilities.

One of the most frustrating problems nursing homes struggle to stay ahead of is dehydration and malnutrition. Because the elderly often suffer from cognitive impairments and other deficits that come with age, they must rely on their caregivers to feed them food and water. Therefore, it is of utmost importance that your loved one's skilled nursing facility is adequately staffed. While direct care staff, which include Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Registered Nurses (RNs), Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), and nurse aides, are very important in implementing mealtimes and ensuring that every resident has a meal, the indirect care staff also plays a crucial role during mealtimes. This type of staff includes dieticians, who assess the nutritional value of the residents' food and make sure that meals are adhering to physicians' orders.

Both dehydration and malnutrition are complications that must be taken seriously. Dehydration can lead to lethargy, confusion, falls, renal failure, stroke and ultimately death. Malnutrition can lead to health problems such as pressure ulcers and infections. When searching for an ideal skilled nursing facility, make sure to visit during mealtimes. Even when nursing homes seem to be fully staffed, they are often understaffed during mealtimes.

If you or a loved one already resides in a nursing home, and you suspect that the facility is not adequately staffed during mealtimes, do not hesitate to contact us. When malnutrition and dehydration are direct consequences of understaffing, patients are being subjected to neglect and abuse, and we at Yeroushalmi Law are dedicated to ending all avoidable suffering in Skilled Nursing Facilities. If you cannot come to us, we will come to your home or hospital bed to meet with you or your loved ones and give you a free consultation.

Ben was wonderful. He took our case when no one else was interested or wanted way to much money. We would highly recommend Ben because he really listens and takes your situation into consideration. We settled our case and we were only unhappy with one thing and that was the confidentiality clause but that was not Ben's fault it came with the deal. June
