Diamond Bar, California

Welcome to the Diamond Bar website for the Law Offices of Ben Yeroushalmi. As experts in nursing home abuse litigation, we have created this website for informational purposes. We hope that you will never have to suffer from the egregious neglect to which nursing homes often subject their residents. Should you ever find yourself in such an unfortunately circumstance, however, we can help by providing you with emotional and legal support.

Diamond Bar was named after the "diamond over a bar" branding iron registered in 1918 by ranch owner Frederick E. Lewis. Located at the junction of the Pomona and Orange freeways, Diamond Bar is primarily residential with shopping centers interspersed throughout the city. The city features a public Los Angeles County golf course. Diamond Bar has the first hydrogen fueling station to be built in Southern California. Notable natives and residents of Diamond Bar include rapper Snoop Dogg and Jay Kim, the first Korean-American Congressman. The population of Diamond Bar was 55,544 at the 2010 census. Diamond Bar has no Skilled Nursing Facilities, but you can search this website for one convenient to you.

If your loved one lives in a nursing home and has dementia, surely you worry about his or her quality of life. Measuring quality of life is inherently subjective. For residents with dementia, measuring quality of life is more complex because the residents' self-assessment may be affected by cognitive impairment, such as loss of memory and reasoning, and noncognitive ailments, such as depression and psychosis. All too often, dementia patients are taken advantage of by their caregivers. Instead of taking the time to enroll a patient in behavioral therapies, nurses often use chemical restraints to subdue dementia patients who are susceptible to episodes of agitation.

Unfortunately, some cases of pervasive neglect and abuse lead to the death of a resident, and studies have shown that dementia patients who are being restrained by antipsychotic drugs are more than twice as likely to die during treatment. This may result in a Wrongful Death action. Often times, injuries and instances of death suffered by residents of nursing homes are the result of a violation of the Patients' Bill of Rights, which every Skilled Nursing Facility in the State of California obligates itself to abide by in its admissions agreement. When a patient suffers from dementia, he or she may be less capable of monitoring his or her own quality of life and require more visits, calls and similar supervision from family members, but that does not absolve the skilled nursing center from its responsibility to provide the best possible care to your loved one.

If your loved one suffers from dementia and you suspect that he or she is being abused in his or her skilled nursing facility, contact us immediately. We will come to your home to provide you with a free consultation under the circumstances that you are unable to come to us.

Ben was wonderful. He took our case when no one else was interested or wanted way to much money. We would highly recommend Ben because he really listens and takes your situation into consideration. We settled our case and we were only unhappy with one thing and that was the confidentiality clause but that was not Ben's fault it came with the deal. June
